At least 75 neighborhoods in Shoreview will be having block parties on Tuesday, Aug. 7, as part of “Night To Unite,” an annual event sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, which helps to celebrate and strengthen neighborhood and community partnerships, particularly between residents and their local law enforcement agencies. Neighborhoods that have registered will be visited by representatives of the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Johanna Fire Department, and quite possibly by local elected officials. Obviously, I can’t get to 75 parties in one night, but I usually drop by six or seven of them each year, and I’ll be mapping out my itinerary this weekend. If you’d like me to visit your block party, drop me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll do my best to get to you! It’s always a pleasure to see neighbors enjoying each other’s company on this night, and I’m especially pleased that my own neighborhood is having a party this year for the first time!
