We unofficially kicked off my re-election campaign at the Slice of Shoreview Days Parade on Saturday, July 28. It was by far the best weather of the six Slice parades I’ve been in- dry, not too hot, not too cold… I consider it a good omen! As has been my usual custom, I played some tunes on my trumpet while walking the parade route, as my friends and relatives who were kind enough to walk with me carried signs or passed out candy and stickers. It was very energizing, especially as I got to greet many folks along the way!
After enjoying many hours at the Slice of Shoreview over the weekend, I took the more formal step on Tuesday, July 31 of filing my Affidavit of Candidacy. Mayor Sandy Martin and Councilmember Terry Quigley also filed for re-election on the same day. Sandy and Terry are currently the longest serving members of the City Council, and I have learned so much from both of them, and would be honored to serve alongside them once again!
Many important things are happening in Shoreview right now:
- Shoreview’s new Comprehensive Plan, Destination Shoreview 2040, is being finalized and prepared for approval later this year.
- The major Community Center renovation and expansion is underway, with some of the new areas already open, and the rest in progress and due to open later this year.
- The City Council has been working with staff and consultants to plan for exciting new additions to the Shoreview Commons grounds beginning in 2019.
I look forward to talking with people throughout the city in the coming months, and finding out what city issues are of the greatest concern to you! Please feel free to contact me via this website, or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
