Four years ago this month, I kicked off my 2014 campaign for Shoreview City Council at the Slice of Shoreview Days Parade. I had made a previous attempt in 2012, finishing third in a field of six people vying for two seats, so I thought I’d give it one more shot. On Election Day 2014, my fellow Shoreview citizens placed their trust in me to represent them on the City Council for the next four years. Having the privilege of serving on the City Council these last few years has been both an honor and a joy for me. For the first year, I just hoped to do no harm as I tried to figure out what I was supposed to do and how I was supposed to do it. In the second year, my confidence and, I hope, my competence increased as I became more accustomed to the pace and the rhythm of the job. In the third year, no longer the newest member of the council, I had the opportunity to serve as Acting Mayor on several occasions in Mayor Martin’s absence, including speaking on behalf of the city at the Grand Openings of the new Ramsey County Library in Shoreview and the North American Banking Company building on Highway 96. Now, in my fourth year, I believe I’ve got the hang of things, and I’m excited about what we’ve done over the last few years and about what’s in store in the years to come. Throughout my first term, I believe I have lived up to my promise to be Responsible, Reasonable, Respectful, and Responsive in serving the people of this city. I have been truly thankful to serve with my dedicated and erudite colleagues, Mayor Martin, Councilmembers Quigley, Johnson, and Denkinger, and former Councilmember Wickstrom. I have learned a great deal from them, from the city staff, and from the many Shoreview residents and stakeholders I’ve gotten to know through interactions both inside and outside of the Council Chambers. This city means even more to me now than it did four years ago, and if you’ll have me, I would be proud to continue my service on the Council for another four years. Next week, I plan to file as a candidate for City Council in the November General Election, and I humbly ask for your support.
We’re working on getting this website up to date, so please check back in the coming weeks as we add more content. I will be posting updates here regularly from now until Election Day. I also invite you to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and links to my accounts on those platforms can be found on the right side of this page. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, my contact information can be found on the “Contact” page on this site. And be sure to keep watching for updates on the “Calendar” page- there are a lot of fun community events taking place in Shoreview from August through November, and I’m going to get to as many of them as I can, and hope to have the chance to greet you at least once or twice between now and Election Day!
